Steam Punk…

I just finished this vest for Cody at Forgotten Saints in Los Angeles. I’m not sure who it’s for but the dude has a killer style. I was in the store dropping of the vest today and got to see some of his other purchases. He also picked up one of those insane masks from Bruce Mitchell. This jacket is a combo, Steam punk/Road Warrior style. I learned a lot about the “Steam Punk” style and I have to say I really like it. I spent a couple days digging through antique stores to find some old brass gauges to attach to the vest and right up until the deadline I was stumped on what I was gonna do… Monica was e-mailing pictures to the studio to help kick start my creativity and I had only 24 hours left. I find that I work better under pressure, but I also find that it is taking years off my life. The vest turned out pretty sick I think! I wish I could say it’s because I’m so dope but it’s only do to the fact that my wife is my muse. I also am surrounded by some amazing artists at my studio. The vest was made from deer skin, brass and cow hide. The attachments were mounted with rivets, wax thread, 2 part epoxy a little blood and a lot of hope that it will hold while he’s on stage.

Living Art…

Once and a while I get a message via e-mail or face-book letting me know that you are out there. Out there following my blog, checking out the art and even being inspired by what you see. This has given me a new perspective on my own work and a sense of responsibility to share more. I too go to a handful of sites that inspire me and I check them almost daily but I never thought there was people doing that to mine. I get messages from aspiring artists that look at my work and bring new ideas into there own and by doing this they say it makes them a better artist. I’m also asked by these other artists how to do certain things or where I get certain materials. I’ll try and put more information into my posts and where I purchase things or how I make them. I would like to say thank you to those who follow my work and the energy you direct towards the pieces you like feed them and give them a life. You see, I believe by putting that positive energy back into a piece of art that it has given to you, gives that art the life and longevity that it deserves. By printing it out and hanging it in your cubical or on your wall, by posting it on your face-book or displaying it on your own site or by simply sharing it with others sews the seeds of creativity. More importantly, its the seeds of things that inspire you. “Ars gratia artis”

Rat Roth…

This painting was fun to do! This brought me back to my roots in the Kustom Kulture scene. I can’t say I miss having an old sled or hot rod, sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck was never fun..

Madonna…

This is a commission from a private collector for a Valentines day gift. His wife is big into the 80’s and a huge Madonna fan. The black is about a 16th inch thick coat of metal flake, the hair is silver leaf, the bling is Swarovski crystalsand the paint is a combination of acrylic and automotive.
